UKRAINIAN DISPLACED PEOPLE
The Bravery Foundation is facilitating, at no cost, monetary donations to a young Ukrainian family settling in the Okanagan. Nina Typusiak, a long term Kelowna resident, has sponsored three displaced members of her family from Ukraine. The mother, Ivanka is in her early twenty's with two small children, Maxim 9 yrs and Natalia 6 yrs old. The money donated to Nina's family does not go to or through The Bravery Foundation, it is a straight transfer from donors like yourself to the family.
Another goal of our foundation is to facilitate and connect Ukrainian refugees and displaced people with local families and resources. We've populated resource pages with links to Federal, Provincial, Regional (Okanagan), and local (Kelowna) resources to help those re-settling in Canada.
Additionally, we are working collaboratively with other volunteer groups in the Okanagan through our "Connections Program." The goal of our program is to facilitate and connect Ukrainian refugees and displaced people with local families, job opportunities and secure housing for the betterment of Ukrainians and Okanagan residents. The Bravery Foundation is proud to be in partnership with the United Way BC through their iVolunteer program.
Many Canadians are unaware the majority of Ukrainians coming to Canada are considered temporary displaced people and not refugees. The main difference being, government programs that support refugees upon arrival in Canada are not available to displaced people. This is one of the reasons why The Bravery Foundation is working hard to create a support system for Ukrainian displaced people. One advantage displaced Ukrainians have is that they usually come a with a 3 year work Visa, if they’re adults, and children immediately qualify for public education.
Our "Refugee to Refugee Mentorship" pilot project connects English speaking refugees in Ukraine with non-English speaking refugees/displaced persons in Canada. The purpose of our program is to help Ukrainians re-located in Canada to learn English from those in their native land. To learn more about our program, or if you are a Canadian company who provides internet services, web hosting, mobile and/or you're a computer retailer who can supply free phones, computers, Wi-Fi connections for Ukrainian refugees in Canada, please click HERE.
INTERNATIONAL COALITION OF PROFESSIONAL SOLDIERS
What is the international coalition of professional soldiers?
- They are comprised of twenty plus veterans from around the globe who have volunteered to travel deep into war-torn Ukraine to help evacuate trapped civilians and participate in the defense of Ukraine. They provide humanitarian and medical aid to those most in need, deep behind conflict lines, where other groups dare not venture.
- They currently are in place within the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a part of the International Legion of Defence of Ukraine.
We cannot issue tax receipts. Our foundation has applied to CRA Charities Directorate for charitable status, and if approved by the end of 2022, which is not guaranteed, we will be able to provide receipts backdated to the date we were incorporated on March 8, 2022.
DONATIONS RAISED TO DATE
